If you are not on SSRI anti depressants, is there any saoren why your GP is not prescribing drugs specifically for migraine ie immagrine? I believe that you can also buy this in a lower doseage over the counter these days but would need to check that.Because I can't use Immagine due to SSRI's and Caffecot is expensive to get compounded, my doctor prescibes stronger anti inflammatories to take rather than using such high levels of ibuprofen. This has mixed results. Usually I need the migraine meds so need my Caffecot (you can still get it compounded, it's just no longer under PBS).I also find that mersyndol or the equivalent generics in their regular dose can take the edge off better than ibuprofen sometimes. The mersyndol is a relaxant rather than an anti-inflam (which is the action of the ibuprofen) and goes in that way.I know someone who also takes 1mersyndol and 1 neurofen plus but that's not really a recommended mix of meds you're supposed to pick one or the other. If Valium works well for the migraines, perhaps try the mersyndol rather than the ibuprofen. You just won't be able to take 4, but it may take the edge off the migraine.I used to get shockers. I had migraine or severe headache 4-5 days out of seven and was missing too much work. My doctor finished up putting me on a preventative medication which I resisted doing for a while I use enough meds as it is, but in the end it was necessary. I now only get breakthrough migraines every now and then they are not severe. They never last more than a day and I don't get the after-effects from them. The med I'm on is called Topamax.
